 Location and acupoint selection
 With the thumb extended, it is on the radial side of the distal segment of the thumb, 0.1 cun to the corner of the fingernail.

 Anatomical stratum
 Skin--subcutaneous tissues--the root of the fingernail. There are the dorsal digital branch of the proper palmar digital nerve of the median nerve, the arteriovenous network formed by the principal arteries and veins of the thumb and 1st dorsal metacarpal arteries and veins in this area.  Acupuncture method
 Puncture obliquely 0.2゛0.3 cun toward the wrist or prick to cause bleeding. Moxibustion is applicable.

 Indications
 1. One of the first aid acupoints, usually used in saving the patient with coma and windstroke, heat stroke.
 2. Acute swelling throat and difficulty in swollowing food.
 3. Cough, asthmatic breath, epistaxis and throat bi.
 4. Febrile disease, mania.

 Application of combination
 1. Treat welling and pain in the throat in combination with Tiantu and Hegu.
 2. Treat windstroke and coma in combination with Shuigou, Hegu and Taichong.

 

 
Prick Shaoshang with the three-edged needle to cause bleeding. It is effective in treating sore throat.
